Once in Leros without your own means of transportation, you will have
numerous options. Because of the island's small size and relatively few roads,
you do not need to be in particularly good shape to travel to many places on foot or on bicycle.
Taxis
Taxis are inexpensive and adequate to cover the short distances. They can be
ordered over the telephone to pick you up from the hotel or wherever else you
are and drive you to your destination, and are usually there within about 10
minutes.
Car Rental
A number of car rental companies operate on Leros and provide small cars
or small 4x4 jeep-type vehicles. Depending on the time of the year, you
will be able to reserve, and you may be able to have a car waiting for you at
the airport, the port, or the hotel.
Motorcycle - Motor Scooter - Bicycle Rentals
Rented motor scooters and motorcycles are a very popular mode of
transportation on Leros during the summer. However, we caution you not to use
them if you are not very familiar with them.
Bus
One might say that bus service on Leros is limited. There is only one bus
that runs from one end of the island to the other a couple of times daily
starting at 07:30 and ending at about 13:30. The nearest bus stop in
Alinda is a 12 minute walk from the hotel.
Boat Rentals
Small motorized boats are available for rent on Alinda beach. You can use
them to motor for short distances along the coast of the island, but are not
seaworthy for the open sea.
